About EarthPulse
Our aim is to provide you with food that
tastes great and leaves you feeling good; food that furthers the health of the
people it nourishes and the earth that it comes from.
Top Quality
Ingredients We start with all natural ingredients, many of them organic and
locally grown. We cook from scratch, using fresh vegetables, fresh garlic, fresh ginger,
and fresh lemons. Many of our spices are freshly ground as we need them.
What We Dont Use We
dont use chemical additives, preservatives, modified starches, or hydrogenated
oils; nor do we use ingredients that contain these. We do not use factory farmed meat or
poultry. We look for spices that have not been irradiated, and for food that has not been
genetically modified.
Food for Special Diets ** see
note below Many of our products are made without gluten, wheat, dairy, nuts, corn,
eggs and other common allergens. Our supplier for spices assures us that the spices are
gluten-free. Most of our spices are ground freshly from whole seeds, and we prefer herbs
that are dried in leaf, not powdered. The quality is much fresher this way, and we can
see what we are getting. Also, we don't use broth powders which often contain yeast
extractives, soy extracts and modified starches. Instead, we make broth from scratch
using vegetables or meat, filtered water, salt and herbs. (NOTE: If you are
extremely sensitive to gluten or food allergens, please note that products are not made
in a gluten-free, peanut-free, etc. environment.)
Small-Scale Production Our
cooking is small-scale and totally hands-on. This means we can monitor the quality of
ingredients, and use traditional cooking methods much like you would use in your own
kitchen.
Why Frozen? We find that
freezing preserves the freshly cooked flavour and nutritional quality of many foods
better than other methods. It takes a little more time and planning to defrost and heat
them, but we feel it's well worth it.
Location We sell our
products at the Old Strathcona Farmers' Market in
Edmonton. The market is open on Saturdays, year round.
About myself... I have a
passion for food and cooking, and have long been fascinated with how food is
traditionally prepared in various cultures. This, together with my interest in health and
nutrition, and many years of organic gardening, has shaped the way I cook.
